SALIS instituted the following awards to recognise and encourage LIS professionals those who contribute for the profession and society.

Eligibility Criteria for all the Awards

1.Applicant/Nominee should be a citizen of India and his/her conduct must be good.
2.The applicant should be a working library professional who holds at least Bachelors degree in library science or its equivalent.
3.Interested professionals should apply in the prescribed application form only
4.Nomination can be self or by a responsible library professional.
5.Give full details for each category and attach support documents for verification
6.Enclose separate sheets wherever necessary to give details
7.Applications without full details and support documents will be rejected
8.The application form can be downloaded from SALIS website www.salis.in or can be obtained by e-mail to salislib.info@gmail.com
9.Filled application [indicating the year of the Award] should reach the office within 3 weeks after the announcement of Award
10.The decision of the committee constituted by SALIS to select the candidate for the award is final.
11.Award Committee has the right to post-pone or cancel the award for any unavoidable reason.

Library Trainee

 The Raman Research Institute is a premier autonomous institute engaged in research in basic sciences. It is funded by the Government of India. The Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru, is inviting applications for Two “Library Trainee” posts. Candidates interested in acquiring hands-on exposure to new paradigms in the profession may apply. The position is temporary for 6 months and is likely to be extended up to 2 years after a performance review. 

Selection criteria: Essential: The candidate must have a regular Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc) degree or equivalent and a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% in both degrees. Only those who have completed MLISc after 2020, and who are waiting for their results are eligible to apply. 

 Desirable: The candidate should have excellent technical and communication skills. 

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 30 years as on the last date of closing of applications. Relaxation in age is applicable as per GOI norms


Stipend: Rs 20,000 in the first year Rs 21,000 in the second year 

The last date for receipt of applications is 23rd September 2022. Applications received after the last date will not be considered

Age- : Not exceeding 45 years

Educational & Other Qualifications:-
Essential:

(i) Master’s Degree in Library Science/Information science/documentation or an
equivalent professional degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the
UGC seven point scale plus a consistently good academic record, computerization of library.

(ii) Qualifying in the National Level Test (NET) conducted for the purpose by the UGC or State Level Test (SET) accredited by the UGC. Those holding Ph.D. Degree are exempted from NET. Candidates
holding Ph.D. degree and are already in the University system and have obtained Master’s Degree
prior to 1991 be given relaxation of 5% from 55% to 50% of marks for appointment to the post of
College Librarian.

(iii) Knowledge of Konkani.

Desirable:

(i) M. Phil./Ph.D. Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation/Archives
and Manuscript Keeping.

(ii) Knowledge of Marathi.

Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience post-qualification in the library department of a reputed

Job Profile:
To assist the Librarian in offering the library services to the Faculty and the students, to assist the
faculty and students to secure books, articles and other teaching and research materials. To assist
in acquiring, organizing, managing and distributing library resources and ensuring that library
provision meets the needs of all its users. To assist in selecting, developing, cataloguing and
classifying library resources. Liaising with departmental academic staff, external organizations
and book suppliers. Upkeep of Library records and equipments. The candidate should be proficient
in office management software with excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office.
