Applications are invited upto 29.07.2016 for One post of Library
and Information Officer (Unreserved) in PB-3: Rs.15,600-39,100 +
Grade Pay Rs.6600 plus usual allowances as admissible to Council’s
employees under the rules at Vector Control Research Centre
(ICMR), Puducherry.
I. Educational qualifications and experience required:
(a) Essential:
i. Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information
Science of a recognized University/Institute.
ii. Five years’ professional experience in a Library under
Central/State Government/Autonomous or Statutory
Organization/PSU/University or Recognized Research or Educational
institution.
(b) Desirable:
i. One year Professional experience of computing library
activities in a Library under Central/State Governments/
Autonomous Organization/University or Recognized Research or
education institution.
ii. One year Professional experience in the field of Public
Health/Bio-medical Research/Vector Borne Diseases viz., Generation
of information documents, Digitization of Library, ISDN etc.
iii. Diploma in Computer Application from recognized University or
institute.
II Age: Not exceeding 40 years on the last date of receipt of
filled in application.
III. Job requirement:
• Management of Library
• Digitization for creating Cyber library
• RFID (Radio Frequency Identified Document) tagging of books
• Updating of existing data bank of Vectors and Vector Borne
Diseases to be updated on daily basis
• Downloading of Scientific articles requested by researchers
• All other routine activities of library – maintenance of stock
and issue of registers for books,
journals etc.,
• Procurement of journals and books and cataloguing/classification
of books
IV. Application fee:
Rs.500/- for General and OBC candidates and Rs.100/- for SC &
ST candidates in the form of crossed demand draft of any Bank
drawn in favour of “The Director, Vector Control Research Centre,
Puducherry” payable at Puducherry. Candidates belonging to PwD
category & women candidates are exempted from payment of
application fee. The Council’s employees are not exempted from the
payment of application fee for Direct Recruitment posts.
V. How to apply:
(i) Candidates fulfilling the above qualifications and willing to
apply for the post can download the application from the VCRC
website (
www.vcrc.res.in). The duly filled-in application is to be
submitted on or before 29.07.2016 to “The Director, Vector Control
Research Centre, Medical Complex, Indira Nagar, Puducherry – 605
006, along with Demand Draft.
(ii) Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt.
Departments/Public Sector Undertakings and Govt. funded research
agencies must be forwarded through proper channel. Advance copies
of application will be considered subject to the condition that a
“No Objection Certificate” from the employer is produced at the
time of personal discussion.

1. The post is temporary but likely to be continued
2. Benefits of new restructured defined contributory pension
system are admissible as per the provision contained in the
Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECD & PR
Division) Notification No.05/07/2003-ECD & PR dated 22.12.2003
effect from 1.1.2004.
3. Age relaxation for Govt. employees will be applicable in
accordance with the instructions issued by the DoPT from time to
time in this regard.
4. The above post is with all India transfer liability.
5. The selection to the post will be made by both Competitive test
and Personal Discussion.
6. Self attested copies of certificates in proof of Date of birth,
Community , Educational qualification (Certificate/ Statement of
marks), Experience as mentioned under essential qualification must
be enclosed with the application.
7. SC/ST candidates called for Written Test will be paid second
class rail fare (To & fro) by the shortest route as admissible
under Rules.
8. Incomplete applications and the applications received after the
closing date will be rejected.
9. Applicants will be shortlisted for the personal discussion
based on their performance in the written test.
10. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or bringing
political or other outside influence with regard to selection
shall be a disqualification and such candidates will not be
entertained.
11. The decision of the Director-General, ICMR shall be final in
all the matters in this regard.
