NISCAIR Now Known as
NIScPR
CSIR-National Institute of
Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi came into
existence on 01-04-2021 with the merger of erstwhile CSIR-National Institute of
Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR), New Delhi and
erstwhile CSIR-National Institute of Science, Technology and Development
Studies (CSIR-NISTADS), New Delhi.It was first
announced on 14-01-2021.
Consequent upon the merger
of erstwhile CSIR-NISCAIR & erstwhile CSIR-NISTADS into a new institute
CSIR-NIScPR, all units/divisions have been reorganized.The new entity may serve as a 'Think Tank' for Indian ST&I system
and may lead ST&I communication and policy studies at National level
fulfilling the emerging National aspirations and needs.
Note: INSDOC merged with
NISCOM in 2002, transformed into the NISCAIR.

electronic version of DDC is called “Web Dewey” first published in 2002 and it
accessible through internet. Web Dewey is based on the 22nd Print
edition of DDC which is published a little later as hard copy in 2003.

World Book Capital
The World Book Capital (WBC) is an
initiative of UNESCO which recognises cities for promoting books and
fostering reading for a year starting on April 23, World Book and
Copyright Day. Cities designated as UNESCO World Book Capital carry out
activities with the aim of encouraging a culture of reading in all ages and
sharing UNESCO’s values. The nomination does not provide a financial prize.
UNESCO adopted the 31c/Resolution 29, in 2001, establishing the
World Book Capital programme and naming Madrid as the first WBC city
in 2001.
Accra, the 2023 African Games host city, has been named the UNESCO
World Book Capital for 2023. After
Guadalajara in Mexico, Accra was chosen for its focus on youngsters and their
potential to contribute to the culture and wealth of Ghana.
Journal Name Changed
Sarada Ranganathan
Endowment for Library Science has been publishing the quarterly journal
‘Library Science with a slant to Documentation’ since 1964. It was founded by
Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. The title of the journal was changed to “Library Science
with a slant to Documentation and Information Studies” from Vol.25 in 1988 and
to ‘SRELS Journal of Information Management’ from Vol.37(2000). The journal is
peer reviewed and has been publishing scholarly articles and articles of
practical use in the fields of library and information science and services. The journal has
now changed its name to Journal of Information and Knowledge from the year
2023.
